The Pogues played a spectacular live show at London’s O2 Arena on 20 December – their only UK date as part of their 30th anniversary tour.

The band brought their inimitable riotous spirit to the gig, with a set list that took in favourites such as ‘Streams of Whiskey’ ‘A Pair of Brown Eyes’, Sally MacLennane’, ‘A Rainy Night in Soho’ and ‘The Irish Rover’ – plus of course the enduring favourite ‘Fairytale of New York’ as part of a second encore.

Live Magazine described the gig as “a forceful, yet endearing journey… delivered with infectious energy, the songs enveloped the crowd and commanded the venue”, concluding “this concert was one to remember”. The Evening Standard described how “The Pogues made this cavernous arena feel like a cosy Irish pub: ‘Dirty Old Town’ prompted a mass singalong, while ‘The Irish Rover’ had people dancing in the aisles.”
